Rock did leave Roshar. He's off Roshar by the beginning of Wind and Truth. You know that because we've already foreshadowed them being met... Who meets them? MeLaan meets them at the end of the Mistborn Era 2. Yeah, so you know that the Horneaters have left. MeLaan was there. We've seen them. So MeLaan meets Rock, yes. I thought you guys had figured that out by now. 

No, was it MeLaan? Or MeLaan met Sho Del? No, she met Rock. Didn't she? Yeah. I'm pretty sure I put that in. Maybe I just - She sees redheads, yeah. So you guys did know that. MeLaan met the redheads - MeLaan met the Horneaters.  

I mean, I remember reading that everybody had guessed it. So don't spread that too much to people who don't want to have spoilers. That's definitely part of the Rock novella.

So there you are, no more Horneaters. They've all... well not all. There's definitely some left behind. But a Horneater exodus off of Roshar has happened by now. 

Yeah, and MeLaan was there meeting with Rock. They needed a little help. They were kinda lost. It's easy to get lost in Shadesmar.

Anyway, there's gonna be weird things where they gotten caught by some of the time dilation. We'll figure it out in the timeline.

Have you decided it'll be Rysn or Rock for the novella [between Oathbringer and Rhythm of War]?

Rysn for this one, Rock for the one between four and five.

Obviously not anytime soon since you have a busy schedule, but do you ever see yourself looping back to do a novella/short story between The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance? Maybe the Lopen story you mentioned? Or is it something that's not valuable now?

I do want to do this some day, for cohesion's sake. So I can see myself doing this. (Maybe in the stretch between Books Five and Six when I'm working on Mistborn Era Three?)

Do you imagine that this possible Lopen novella would be an evolution of the King Lopen the First of Alethkar short story you've mentioned? Or would they be completely distinct? Or do you just not plan on writing that short story anymore?

That's what I have in the back of mind, but I would have to seriously consider what I'm going to do once the time arrives.

Horneater update. The main reason I didn't write Horneater during the time I had is the one that I've told you all before. I really think I'm gonna need to be back with the Stormlight Archive before I can get back to Stormlight Six, because I'm working on some other things in between. And I'm saving in reserve the Horneater novella, so I can write that when I need to get back in.

Wax and Wayne came out of me needing to be on Scadrial when I knew I wasn't going to be able to get to the next Era for a long time. I'm gonna have that same sense, I'm sure, with Roshar. So I'm saving the Horneater novella for that. The Secret Project [Five] is not a direct Stormlight book.

I really miss Rock. Is that going to be part of the Words of Radiance Kickstarter?

Yes. It will be part of the Words of Radiance Kickstarter. There will be a novella about Rock as part of the Words of Radiance Kickstarter. If I don't give myself the deadlines, then it might turn into, like,  Rithmatist 2, where it's like "oh I'll do it someday." I've committed to doing that. It will be the thing I write right after Book 5, and it should come out right before Book 5, in the same way that I did with Dawnshard. That's, at least, the plan right now.
